Change in Snapscan Behavior with 4beta2

I started having a problem with my Fujitsu (now Ricoh) ix1500 scanner after updating to Beta2. Previously when scanning to Devonthink, things flowed smoothly. Now, I get a multistep process. After the scan ends, I get a message that it has been send to Devonthink. I also now get a popup asking to save the file in the ScanSnap home folder. This must be dismissed since it blocks further scans from being sent to Devonthink.

If Devonthink is not running, the first scan proceeds as normal with no popup message to save the scan. Subsequent scans (if Devonthink running) will however cause the save file popup message to appear.

I’m running on a Mac Airbook running M4 chip with Sequoia 15.4.1

If the Scansnap profile for DEVONthink is set to Mac scan to file (it is), this is not supposed to happened. This didn’t happen on b1 but began after b2. The scansnap software has not changed.

I’ve uninstalled and installed the scansnap software with no change. Given it works when DEVONthink starts up but not when it’s running, it seems likely due to a change in DEVONthink b2

It would be helpful if you pasted screen captures of these prompts and also what your scan profile looks like.

Also, did you read this…

First, I upgraded to Beta by mistake, this is on me. The sequence of events causing me to do this not worth explaining. But no, DEVONthink3 was not running.

I got some tech support from Richoh. The problem was resolved in a strange way. First, I noted to Ricoh the process worked normally if Devonthink was not running. Scanning would send the scan to Devonthink and no popup. We verified this several times. However if Devonthink was running, the scan would be sent to Devonthink and a popup would appear asking if the file should be saved to the ScanSnap Home folder. This complicates when scanning multiple documents to Devonthink. (Note: With the MAC send to file option chosen, this should not occur). Further scanning would not be sent to Devonthink unless the popup was dismissed by choosing either cancel or save. Rebooting didn’t resolve the problem. Next went to the preferences for ScanSnap and removed the Devonthink in the application menu and then reselected it. (I had done this multiple times previously with no change in behavior.) After doing this , resent a scan. This time I got a popup from Devonthink that I had exceeded the OCR limit. The ScanSnap popup didn’t appear. The problem was also resolved in that subsequent scans did not generate the save to Devonthink.

I actually don’t know why the problem was resolved but there apparently is some interaction between the Scansnap program and Devonthink in which the interaction between the two can trigger the popup regardless if the send to file option is chosen.

What is the path you’re saving to in the scanning profile?

Thank you for your response. Like your product, this is not a complaint but an observation. To the best of my understanding, profiles are stored on a mac for ix1500 on Macintosh HD/users/[user]/preferences. With ScanSnap Home, there is no option as to where to store a profile, you create a new profile within the manager and it is stored in the default location. The key options are to select a location to send the scan to (DEVONthink in this case) and the management type (send to file in this case which should stop the prompt). I have attached a screenshot of the profile.

As I noted works now, don’t know how the problem happened.

Walter

No worries. At a glance, the path looks correct, which is what i was wondering about.
