Chrome won't open DeveonThink Links?

I’m trying to use Get Item Link to get URL’s that will open the selected item in DevonThink. Clicking on or opening the URL inside of Chrome causes Chrome to performe a Google Search, not activate DevonThink. But Safari works as expected (opens the item in DTP).

Anyone else have this problem or know a solution? Do I need to register a handler for the links like this?

Chrome does not recognize most (any?) custom URLs on OS X. The same issue arises if you try URLs generated by iThoughts, Tinderbox, Evernote (“Classic” links), etc.
