Starting a few weeks ago, DT3 demonstrates a new behavior that is a minor irritation:
In 3-pane view, if I want to close a window, I press Cmd-W once, which empties the bottom pane, and then have to press Cmd-W again to close the window.
I wish just to close the window. Is this a setting in an update, or is it perhaps a bug?
Thanks!
No, this is not a bug nor is there a specific setting to disable this behavior. If you are using document tabs, the first Command-W closes the tab; the second closes the window.
Thank you.
To the best of my knowledge, there is no tab open. One document open in preview pane. I am not closing a tab, I am making the document disappear from the preview pane. Then the second key combo closes the window.
Look at Settings > General > Interface > Enable tabbed browsing. Is it on?
I have a bit more info:
I have a preview pane open below the list of files. I do not see a tab within that preview pane. When I have a file selected such that its content is visible in the preview pane, and then open the Window menu, I see Cmd-W for Close Tab, and Opt-Cmd-W for Close All.
Once I hit Cmd-W, the Window menu shows Cmd-W for Close.
Does this help? Can I turn off tabs in some way (I never use them)?
You got it!
Tabbed Browsing was on. I turned it off, and all is back to my prior state.
Thank you.
