Cloud setting to sync among all devices

I’m syncing from DT3 on a Mac Mini to an iPhone and iPad DTTG3 through Cloudkit. All works well but I am not sure of two settings:

Since I’m using Cloudkit, do I still need to enable Devonthink in my mobile device Settings/iCloud/Devonthink?

And next, in DTTG there’s the option to back data to iCloud. I have it unchecked. What would be the reason to check that if I’m syncing with iCloudkit? All of my databases on the Mac Mini are backed up locally to hard disks.

Yes.

Because sync isn’t a backup. But if your databases are safely synced on your Mac, you could definitely uncheck that option in DEVONthink To Go.
