Would it be possible to add the following provider in the API keys section of DT4?
Thanks for the suggestion but we can’t support every AI service that pops up (and often, soon disappears). It takes investigation, development, and testing to add specific services and we have to use our finite time and resources wisely. (And there’s far more than AI to work on in our apps.)
That being said, their documentation says it supports an OpenAI endpoint, so you likely can use the OpenAI (Compatible) provider in DEVONthink’s AI > Chat settings.
understood. I’ll explore the OpenAI endpoint, thx. Completely understand about not supporting every option willy-nilly. Thought this one might be more substantial as a number of european government agencies seem to be clients.
If it becomes “too large too ignore” and the interest grows large enough in our userbase, it would be something for us to dig into more deeply.
Thanks for the nudge. Privatemode.ai runs a local server on my machine that is reachable via an OpenAI-compatible endpoint. Setup via DT4’s settings panel was straightforward.

You are concerned about privacy - but you are considering a relatively unknown API which is not SOC 2 certified nor provides HIPAA BAA signing?
Have you considered a local AI model via Ollama? That seems a better route if security is essential.
I’m not sure but I think that Mistral is good when it comes to privacy. I believe that the EU GDPR rules are pretty strict.
Not always, but often, this is how untrustworthy providers express themselves.
The German text is even worse.
Hi - confer.to just popped up - waiting for them to announce API access - sounds like a well thought through privacy focused implementation from Signal founder Moxie Marlinspike. Once they do, might be a viable option. Already live but just with web chat interface.
