Devonthink is constantly crashing, requiring Force Quit commands to get it to close. I have deleted all my old databases (I have backups of the data) completely reinstalled the program, and only set up an index database rather than import actual files, but it continues to crash. Is this a problem with Devonthink or with its compatibility with my computer. I am on a 2020 vintage MacBook Pro now running sequoia.
Note: Reinstalling should not be one of your early things to try. We have discussed this many times, including on our blog.
Also, crashes should be reported to our support ticket system.
I always send in the report. What I would like to know is whether there is some set of steps short of reinstalling that would be worth trying to correct constant crashing–i.e., as soon as I start trying to use the system? I have had Devonthink for quite a long time at this point, and this crash problem is of relatively new. So something is going on that I can’t make sense of. Suggestions would be welcome or should I just contact support.
As @BLUEFROG says, a last it later action is reinstall.
If you’re referring to Apple’s Crash Reporter, that’s not opening a ticket with us. So yes, please open a ticket.
PS: I am support. But these kind of issues are better dealt with in our ticket system.
Ok, I thought the report files I kept submitting were going to you. Sorry to have to ask, but how do I open a ticket to Devonthink?
See this post.
