Conversion from indexed to imported DB

Hello

For certain reasons I have an indexed database with about 6’000 PDFs in several folders. Smart folders and rules are also set up.

Now I am thinking about changing this database so that the files/folders are no longer indexed but imported. I am aware of the advantages and disadvantages of importing and indexing.

The question is what the procedure is for such a conversion. I have searched the forum but have not found anything about this. Except for one contribution from 2008, but I don’t know if it is still valid. This could also be because I have used the wrong keywords.

Do I have to/should I create a new DB and import the data/folders? What about the labels, TAGs, smart rules, reminders etc.?

I am currently facing some open questions and don’t know how/where to start.

I would be grateful for a tip or two at this point. I don’t need step-by-step instructions, just a few tips on how I should proceed in order to a) keep the effort within limits and b) not lose the data, of course. I have several backups of this data on different media.

Just select the indexed items that you want to convert and choose Data > Move into Database. But backing up both the database and the indexed files first might be a good idea too.
