Conversion of JPG to PDF

I have a large number of PDFs that I want to convert to PDF, merging them. I have been doing this using OCR to convert to searchable PDF, and it all works perfectly. However, this is very slow, and it would be much quicker simply to use Data/Convert/to PDF (paginated). I could then OCR these PDFs later on, as I needed them.

However, the problem is that whereas PDFs generated by OCR fill the page, even when no text is found, ones converted without OCR do not fill the page, but have a very large white border, which I don’t want. Is there a way I can tweak the settings so that pictures fill the page in the PDF, even if I do not use OCR? It is as though the convert option sets the page size to A4 even if the image being converted is smaller.

I don’t know if that can be done with DT, but if you have PDF Expert in your Mac, simply select the images and open them with PDF Expert. It will ask if you want a PDF, and will generate one without filling borders, but eventually will reduce the quality and/or size of the images.

Thanks for the tip, though I think it might be somewhat time-consuming for hundreds of images.
