Is it possible to create blank pdf notes by clicking on “New” on Devonthink 4/DDTG 4? IIRC, I could do that on Devonthink 3, but it seems it’s not an option anymore. I know that I could add blank pdf pages to existing pdf files, but here I mean creating an entirely new pdf file, all blank pages so that I can math questions on my ipad and keep the record.
Welcome to DEVONthink and the DEVONthink forum.
I’m not at my computer to test my ideas, but in DEVONthink create say an empty RTF document and then “convert” to PDF. Or use Word, Pages, or whatever to create a document of empty pages as long as you want, then “print” that file to PDF. Or something like that.
Or import an empty PDF document, then export it via File > Export > As Template… and afterwards just use the template.
thanks! i’ll do that
I was able to do exactly that in DEVONthink 4, but I couldn’t do it in DTTG 4. I can select “Add to Templates”, and New (button on the bottom left) > From Template, and I can see the template, but nothing happens when I tap it.
Sorry, but with DEVONthink ToGO 4.0.2 works here. Not something I would normally do as PDF not really intended to be an editable file format.
Is DEVONthink ToGo busy doing something else at that moment? Is a Smart or “regular” Group selected when you do this? That’s all I can think of at the moment.
Actually, “From Templates” doesn’t work even with Default Templates. Mine is also 4.0.2. Maybe I’m not understanding what this does, but at least it doesn’t create any new document of any format nor is there any noticeable change.
”Text” at the top works, btw. I also tried restarting my ipad. Nothing changed.
It’s a bug. You denied location services when prompted.
Go into iOS’ Settings > Privacy & Security > Location > DEVONthink and set it to While Using the App. Then look at DEVONthink To Go. Do you see template PDFs appearing?
I’m not comfortable with sharing my location with any apps (I don’t see a point in this app in particular), so I guess I’ll just do with what I have right now.
Just follow my instructions to confirm or deny the behavior. You can then disable it again. Thank you for your cooperation.
Also, we have people who want a geolocation associated with where they created documents. That option is also available in DEVONthink on the Mac.
