Dashboard note, but DTTG locked into a tag

I have a daily planner/dashboard note that contains links to other notes/tags
Format is .pdf; tag is NotePlanner
The note can be viewed in DTTG, and the links are active
I click a link, for example a link to tag Meals
DTTG follows the link to the new tag, but then immediately flips back to tag NotePlanner
It’s a pdf thing; the links work fine for other formats
