I started out with a partition of 498 Gb but as I added more files, I realized that I needed to move the database to a larger partition. I quit DT, moved the databases, re-started DT and noted that in the database properties of each of my databases, the old partition size still shows. I don’t believe I did anything wrong when I moved the databases so if someone could point out what I need to do so that “Database Properties” shows the correct size of the partition, I would appreciate it.
A screenshot would be useful. In addition, does rebooting fix this?
I see my mistake:
At some point in the recent past, the values in the line “Disk Space:” added up to about 500 Gb. I erred in thinking that “used” + “available” added up to the total disk partition size. It does not. “Used” means the size of the database and “available” means the amount of space left on the partition where the database resides. I used Disk Utility to verify my new understanding.
This is a minor point but perhaps a future release could have two lines: The first line would read “Database Size” (not “used”) and the next line would read “Disk Space Remaining.”
