Database recovery - only have a sparseimage file

I’m using DevonThink 3.6.3 on a Mac OS 10.12.6. This morning I tried to open one of my databases which wouldn’t open, and when I checked the folder the database is located in there’s only a sparseimage file which is about 15 GB. Is it possible to recover the database from this, and how?

Rename the .sparseimage to .dtSparse and open it again. If you get an error message or an entry in the log, report back here.
