So, I have old databases on my iPhone that I don’t want there. I have turned them off in the iCloud sync options, but they still show up on the main screen. If I “delete” them–can I still restore them on my MacBook? I think I can…but wanted to make sure. Seems I should be able to not have all the old databases show up on my iPhone list if I dont’ want them…but I’m afraid just to nuke them without knowing more.
Why would you need to “restore them on your MacBook”?
Also, this has been addressed countless times in the documentation, on the forums, our blog, etc.
You are not accessing databases on any device but the one you’re currently working on.
DEVONthink To Go is not accessing databases on your MacBook. and vice versa.
Your databases are always local to the device.
… so why would deleting a database on one device remove it from another?
Supplementing @BLUEFROG ’s comment, if the copies on your iphone are the only remaining copies and not anywhere else, then if you “clean” them (delete) then gone forever unless backed up somewhere.
ok. I clearly don’t know how to ask my question. Sounds like I’m not the only one confused by it if it is addressed countless times.
Is the documentation “DEVONthink Manual” confusing on this topic of how the databases are distributed amongst devices?
Sounds like I’m not the only one confused by it if it is addressed countless times.
The confusion is not for lack of available information. We have documented this and much more in several places:
fair enough. thanks. sorry to bother.
No bother at all
