Hello, I’ve updating and creating new DEVONagent search sets and plugins for a book and several essays I’m writing.
That got me to thinking: what is the DA roadmap? It hasn’t been updated in awhile. It seems (to me, at least) that DA is also a (better?) candidate for embedded AI features than DT.

A maintenance release is in the pipeline and will be most likely released this month.

DEVONthink’s MCP server has been a great addition. I use it daily with Claude and with local models in LM Studio / Bionic. I’d love to see the same for DEVONagent Pro, so an AI assistant could run DEVONagent searches (including search sets and plugins), read the results, and hand the best finds to DEVONthink. This would be especially valuable with local models, which have no web access of their own. Is this something you’re considering?
DEVONagent’s built-in AI already does this, including the ability to send found items to DEVONthink. The integration of external AI in DEVONagent should be more extensive than replicating existing behavior or else you’re wasting extra bandwidth and money. I can’t speak of any internal plans but a major update may involve improving access to the growing number of JavaScript-based search engines, perhaps a more extensive automation system (similar to DEVONthink’s smart rules and batch processing), including conditional behavior, e.g., Chat – Continue if. However, development would need to comment, if they desire to.

1 - You can do web searches with local models by connecting a web search tool.
Ollama lets you add tools to achieve that. Ollama also has a web search API which is even easier than using tools.
2 - If you want to use Claude Code/Dispatch to run DevonAgent searches, read the results, and send the best finds to Devonthink that is possible right now. DevonAgent is AppleScriptable, and Cladue can write one-time tasks or repetitive skills based on Applescript and/or a combination of Applescript and Python or Node.
PS: I was not hinting at anything regarding future developments. As I said, I can’t speak on behalf of development on this. I merely was pointing out there are many other things to think about than AI integration and those are some ideas I personally thought about. That’s all.
