I have a MacBook Air MQD32 that I bought in 2017. I currently have the Devonthink PRO3 version. I would like to know if version 4 is compatible with this device.
If on your Mac you check Systems Setting → General —> Software Uodate and click button to Check for Updates, the computer will report what updates are available and possible.
About a year ago my MacBook battery wheezed the last full erg it could muster. Apple wanted $600 to replace it. In a cheesy, traitorous act showing how easily my loyalty can be bought, I replaced it myself. For $75.
It worked great. We still use it for taking board minutes. Pages under Monterey isn’t a problem.
I use a Mac Pro 6,1 (trash can) with macOS Sequoia using OCLP. Though this hardware is too old to support AVX2, which could lead to issues with some applications. DEVONthink so far has worked flawlessly. Unfortunately, this project will inevitably die as Tahoe is the last ever x86 macOS release.
You could give OpenCore a shot, which patches macos systems to allow you to update to newer versions that the machine officially supports
Saying that - it’s not something I’d do myself. 20 years ago, I spent endless amounts of time futzing with bootloaders on Window Mobile and patching system; these days, life is too short - the cost of downtime, repatching, reinstalling is higher than just getting a newer machine.
Granted, such futzing is part of my job (e.g., I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled DEVONthink To Go 4 a dozen or more times in a single day as I’m testing for reproducibility in issues, etc.). But in general, such “patchery” can certainly lead to unexpected behavior, which can obviously complicate support as well.
I also got 12 years out of my MacBook Pro. Still works, I’m sure it can go faster if I were to defragmented but the battery has been long gone, after 5 years it required to be plugged at all times
