DEVONthink for Photo Management?

Hello!

I’m new to DEVONthink so bear with me

Does anybody uses DT for organizing / finding / filtering / etc. photos?

I was reading that DT could also work by leaving the files in the original locations and only referencing / indexing them and thought that it would be ideal for photos.

What do you think?

Anyone use DT to catalog photos?

I would be interested in learning how you use DT to keep track of photo collections. I know I can type in some information and the photo can be imported to DT. But I would like to use it much like a DAM (Digital Asset Manager) which is capable of reading the metadata for each photo as it is imported; then I could add my own comments about it also. Has anyone done such a thing?

DEVONthink does allow importing or indexing (pointing to external files, instead of copying) photos, but it is not a DAM (digital asset management) application. If your needs are light, it works but don’t expect it to run like Extensis Portfolio, etc.
