I saw a previous thread on this topic, but it was closed.
Also, this workaround is using Hookmark which I’ve been using for a few years.
I just started using Freeform. Sure enough, Hookmark doesn’t work with the app, yet, just like a DT link doesn’t work. However, I sorta got it to work, partially with DEVONthink.
Since Freeform is free, I figured I’d try creating a mindmap instead of using MindNode. The part missing from Freeform is the ability to have a collapse-able note as part of a node.
So, the next best thing to do, at least for me, was to create a note in DEVONthink which has a list of the nodes which I would have liked to have a note. Then simply type the info under each node title.
Obviously, the result is one file i need to attach to the Freeform mindmap, which Hookmark can’t do properly. Except, I control-H (Hookmark shortcut) the note in DEVONthink as usual. Then I click the Hamburger menu, and from the list I select “Copy as Universal Link.”
Jump back to Freeform and click the Paperclip icon at the top and select “Add Link.” Then paste the Universal Link into the URL field. Here’s an example of a Universal Link:
hhttps://hookmark.net/hm/x-DEVONthink-item/EE767028-79A9-4663-9825-68B19694489A
When you click “Insert,” you get the following:
It may say it didn’t work, but when I double-click it, it jumps right to the file in DEVONthink. Since it’s the only object linked to DEVONthink, I know what it is.
