DevonThink / OS X Compatability?

Hi there,

I’m trying to find out what the system requirements are for DevonThink (incl. Pro & Pro Office versions.) I’m looking to replace my (very old) computer soon, but I’m not sure what I’ll be getting in it’s place and which operating system I’ll be running. For reasons I’ll not go into (because they’re so boring & complicated), I don’t know if I’ll get a brand new Mac running the newest operating system, or if I’m going to go for a second hand machine (or possibly a refurb), on which I may run an older system, probably Snow Leopard. What I want to know is whether DevonThink is supported on both these versions of OS X? I couldn’t find any system requirements on the site.

I’m not a proper user of DevonThink yet; I’ve tried it out quite a bit and like the look of it, but I want to spend a bit more time poking around before fully migrating all my stuff into it. For now though, I just want to make sure that any machine I buy (and version of OS X I use) will work with it so I have that option.

Any help is much appreciated.

The system requirements are show on the product page, see

So, it’s OS 10.6.8 or later with DEVONthink Pro (Office) 2.5.2. Older versions for older system you will find at the legacy page.

Great, thanks for the help. Not sure why I didn’t see that, I looked at that page.

Snow Leopard support is increasingly decreasing, especially since Mavericks (10.9) was announced, so you may want to seriously consider if that’s your preferred option. It could be disappointing to purchase DEVONthink (and other software) if SL support stops relatively soon (e.g. when Mavericks is officially released) and be unable to take advantage of updates. SL is definitely not a long-term investment.

+1 as they say and thanks for taking care! It later crossed my mind to post a similar statement, but my work kept me from coming back here yet.
