I note on the overview page that DTTG 4 requires iOS 26. I’m wondering if there is any indication of how it behaves or is limited by using an older device, particularly an iPad.

I’m basically buying a device to use DTTG, although I have an iPhone Pro Max 12 that I can also use but wont use much due to the relative screen size.

Obvoiusly the later models will presumably work better, though they’re much more expensive.

Old iPad models that can’t run iOS26 will not be able to use v4 and would need to have installed v3 before it is removed from the App Store?

Is there going to be any noticeable difference between using one of the older iPads that can still run iOS26 (though maybe not 27 a year later if they remove support)?

I bought an iPad mini 7, but its just too small for my liking with DTTG 3, so I’m going to return it but I’m looking at the spectrum of iPads to replace it and trying to make an informed choice.

What ways will DTTG 4 require greater processing power?

I am running iPadOS 26 on a 3 year old 10th Gen. iPad (not the Pro) and it runs fine, including DEVONthink To Go 4.

Yes, you can run DEVONthink 3 on an older iPad. However, we would consider that a short-term solution as version 3 is in maintenance and will eventually cease development. I am not saying that is e.g., by the year’s end but I am saying it’s something that will eventually happen. If we were sitting in a coffee shop right now, I’d tell you to buy something that is supported by iPadOS 26.
