DEVONthink use in future without AI features

It might be a bit early to discuss this topic, but with posts in favour of AI features, I would like to voice that there is at least one user who doesn’t need or want any of the coming AI features. I am not necessarily talking about features integrated into DEVONthink, I am thinking more along the lines of apple intelligence whatever that will be.

I understand that there are a lot of people who will need the new technology for work or private use and accept that and that it is how it is and as it should be.

For my case, I am using DEVONthink purely for my hobby and am very happy with the core functionality. There are of course always ways to improve.

For me macos Ventura will be the last apple operating system. Seeing that DEVONthink is still supported for Mojave, I am hoping that I can run DEVONthink for years to come on this machine.

The perfect solution would be, I am dreaming here, DEVONthink on unix. But I understand that this will be in vain.

You’re not alone in thinking that the fad in AI features is not the most important part of our work. For some, sure. For all? I doubt it. There’s a difference between a toy and a tool.

Is Mojave the latest your machine can go or are you on Ventura?

I am on Ventura.

Okay. Good to know as system requirements are changing soon.

Ok. Now I get excited about whats coming …

It’s just the natural evolution of development. Mojave is 6+ years old. And we generally support five operating systems, current to past, though there is some flexibility depending on the technologies involved.

There are at least two of them. :raising_hand_man:
