When I try to open DEVONthink (my default database opens with) the application freezes on initializing and verifying and I have to force quit quite a few times to kill it. I’ve tried running Coctail repaired permissions, etc. to no effect. I can open a demo database by clicking on the DB. How do I repair my default database if it won’t open?
How big is your database (check file size of the package file in the Finder).
If it is very large (or has some verification problems), it may take some time to open. Try launching it and see if it will eventually open. Perhaps you can go do some Web browsing to occupy time while testing to see if it will eventually open. If it does open, run Tools > Verify & Repair followed by Tools > Backup & Optimize create a recent internal backup.
If you can’t get it to open, send a message to Support describing the problem. Attach a recent crash log to the message.
