Devonthink won't update to 4

hello all

I upgraded to DT4 a couple of weeks ago. Today I was working on my desktop, where DT4 should be installed, and noticed that my database was actually Devonthink 3. I went to my DT account, checked that I had the right seats listed, then downloaded the Devonthink 4.1 update. I’ve launched it, but when I try to sync, it’s stuck on the window and will not update. Image attached. When I click on the greyed out sidebar, I get a permissions request to let DT and Dropbox work together; if I acceded to that, Devonthink 3 opens, which doesn’t need syncing.

What am I doing wrong?

This is happening on a 2025 iMac, Sequoia 15.6.1

You need to remove the DEVONthink 3 application from the /Applications directory on your machine, then reboot it.

I’m embarrassed that you had to tell me to switch the machine on and off again, but it has worked, so thank you!

You’re welcome! No need to be embarrassed :slightly_smiling_face: And despite many people believing recommending a reboot is either based on old myths or the utterance of lazy support people  , I hope this underscores we say it with good reasoning.
