Thank you Sean. I don’t disagree.
What frustrates me is the DT mindset reminiscent of the SNL skit “this is how we do things on Sprokets.” Who cares? I love the DT product. I would like to make it work inside my wonky, split personality, work flow. But it’s insulting to ask basic questions and get the response that “you’re doing it wrong.”
It would be far less insulting if they just said, “our product has limitations that require certain tech structures.” Instead it’s “if you weren’t so stupid our product could work for you too. So get smart and get hip to the DT way…”
“You’re just doing it wrong” causes ppl to waste a lot of time trying to make a product that doesn’t fit inside a workflow ft inside that workflow. Like using metric wrenches to fix an imperial measurement system. They’re just different.
A little honesty would be greatly valued and people might not waste time trying to make this square peg fit into that round hole. Stop trying to make your customer wrong or stupid; admit to the limitations of your product and encourage them to move on.
