I’m trying to OCR around 60 PDFs that have made their way into my databases without being readable.
However, the process is stopped by the following error message:
”The maximum number of units available in the license has been reached”
What does this mean? Am I Only able to OCR a certain number of files in a session or within my databases as a whole?
10,000 pages per calendar month. This a hard limit imposed by Abbyy’s license, not something that can be lifted, extended, or legally bypassed.
If you use Claude CoWork with Devonthink, it can set up Tesseract which can do unlimited OCR
I think you can setup Tesseract even without AI locally. At least I seem to remember having done that once to see if it gives better results in certain cases as DT’s OCR.
I am sure you can do that if you are a JXA genius
For mere digital mortals it’s a bit more involved.
I probably used homebrew. Quite mortal, I’d say
