Don't understand: How to Clip Web Content Inside DEVONthink

I was interested in the following Tip

How to Clip Web Content Inside DEVONthink
Among the various options you will also find Clip to DEVONthink, if you prefer the extension. Drag images or selected text from a page and drop them into the item list to create new documents

but there are a few things that I don’t understand.

1- if I follow the procedure, as soon as I clip to DevonThink by dragging text or an image to the item list, the google window (ie the web page that I am clipping) closes and I have to re-create it again from scratch. There must be something that I am not understanding.

2- I think that for most uses, users want to create a synopsis of a web page, meaning that they want all clips to be merged into a single document. Is this possible or do I have to create a document with each clip and then merge ?

3- is there any way to use multiple screenshots as clips instead of text and images separately (which could be concatenated into a PDF). I find this approach fast and most effective.

thanks in advance for your time and help

  1. Do you have Preferences > Files > Import > New notes: Select (and display) automatically enabled?

  2. The process I outlined makes independent clips. However, if you have a document open in its own window, you can drag and drop to it.

  1. Technically you could use the Screen Capture functions in the Sorter. However, I can’t say how fast and effective it is for many clips…

Screen captures are static images so the text isn’t searchable. What is the benefit over grabbing the actual text?
