I’m still getting used to DT Pro (demo mode). One thing I’m confused about is when I need to import and when drag & drop will work. I frequently try to drag & drop only to find it will not work. Then I try importing. Is there a simple “rule” to remember so that I can use the correct method right from the start?
I don’t know of any hard and fast rules but…
I use the menu option import only when I need to navigate to a file or folder. When the info is already in front of me, I prefer drag & drop. I like to keep the Groups window (pull down Tools and select Show Groups) in the upper right-hand corner of the screen so I can drag & drop directly into a group’s folder.
Drag & drop of files/folders (to the Dock icon or to a window of DT) should be identical to File > Import > Files & Folders…
