I am using Devonthink on my MacBook with an Lexmark MB3442 All-In-One-Device, which is having a nice duplex scanner. The scanner is connect via Bonjour protocol and I can scan from apps like PDFify. When I want to import from the scanner via Devonthink the software crashes.
I even installed Devonthink on a MacMini, which has never seen Devonthink and right from the start, without database or anything, Devonthink crashes when displaying the right tab for scanner control. Both Mac devices run the latest Tahoe official release.
Does anybody have experienced the same?
Matthias.
Please choose Help > Report Bug while pressing the Option modifier key to start a support ticket, thanks.
Hello, I have tried as you told, the Apple Mail application comes into the foreground, but nothing more happens.
Can I extract the information manually, for example the Apple crash report?
Matthias.
Is DEVONthink allowed to automate Apple Mail? See System Settings > Privacy & Security
And you running DEVONthink 4.2.1 ?
Yes, I do. On both devices, the MacBook I used to work with and the MacMini I tried a clean and fresh DT4.2.1 installation on.
I have the automation access for Apple Mail activated. When I select the scanner, I can hear the device starting the preview. The moment, when the preview should be shown, Devonthink closes immediately and want’s to send an Apple crash report.
Does Help > Report Bug while pressing the Option modifier now successfully create a bug report with attached logs? Otherwise please send the crash log and the file ~/Library/Application Support/DEVONthink/Console.log to support - at - devon-technologies.com
Hello, I wanted to create the Apple Bug Report, but now the scanner works again. I installed a few days ago an Xcode update, which was presented via Apple Settings > System Updates. I do not remember the correct name, but it was for the Xcode development stuff referring to MacOS 26.3.
What version of macOS are you running?
The latest official / non-beta release: 26.3

Glad to hear you’re playing it safe with your OS. Strongly recommended and thanks for the follow-up.
Unfortunately, the error returned. I have upgraded to 26.3.1, the failure seems to return with the latest minor version.
