I recently purchased DEVONthink Pro (great product!) and am now considering buying DTTG as well. I’m trying to determine which option (subscription vs. one-time purchase) is more reasonable, especially since DEVONthink is already at version 3.9.6. Based on the typical release intervals, it seems likely that I am purchasing DTTG (and have purchased DT Pro) towards the tail end of the current version cycle. But I also understand that the team does not communicate future release dates.
DTTG version 3 is priced at €59.99 (approximately $64 USD), while the yearly subscription is €20.49.
I usually prefer one-time purchases. Is there a grace period for these one-time purchases? Or would I risk opting for the one-time purchase only to be required to upgrade to DTTG version 4 with an upgrade fee of, say, €30, in half a year (effectively paying €90 for 6 months)? If you were in my position, at this moment in time, what would you do?
Any advice would be welcome.
