DT on new Mac: serious file error…

I just got a new Mac and installed everything from a current TimeMachine backup, including DT’s databases. When I open DT, I now get this

The same thing happens when I restore the latest Arq backup.

Doing a rebuild seems to work for this database, but I have missing documents in another one. And those are imported, since I do not index.

Any advice?

  • Where are the databases stored?

  • Does DEVONthink have Full Disk Access?

  • On the database with missing documents, hold the Option key and choose File > Restore Backup. Try switching to the larger of the two internal metadata backups.

On the old Mac, backups on Arq and elsewhere.

Darn. Of course …

Well, I’m currently importing from the WebDAV sync location. That did the trick. I’d still have thought that restoring a backup (TimeMachine or other) would give me a database that DT is happy with.

Turned on full disk access for DT, of course.

Most likely the backups were done while the database was in use and are therefore inconsistent/corrupted. Easiest solution might be to copy the databases from your old Mac.

In the end, I used my sync data. That worked as expected.
