Was using the trial version 3 of DT. Just notice that there is a version 4 trial. So I’ve downloaded that and installed it. Nothing migrated from 3 into 4. Is there no way to import everything I’ve done in version 3 to get into version 4?
I looked at importing, and though I see the database (I have only 1 as I’m still in trial period) it isn’t importable.
I really don’t feel like recreating everything in version 4, so if it isn’t possible my trial ends here.
There’s no need to import anything. DT4 just uses the same databases as DT3. Which you should remove from your machine – don’t have both versions installed at the same time on the same machine.

Are you actively using the Global Inbox?
And @chrillek is correct in his response.
Okay - thanks for that. I just would have thought that an upgrade would have seamlessly connected to the database already in use. Because it didn’t, I thought that some conversion would be required and that most likely an “import” operation would tackle it. I simply opened the existing database and it worked fine.
Yes I have the Global db and a new one that I created.
DEVONthink 4 migrates the Global Inbox and resources. However, it has its own fresh set of preferences and makes no assumptions about the previous state of things.
Glad to hear things look good now.
hello, it also worked for me, to see the global inbox migrates in the trial version of DT4 (from my DT 3 version). I will try it out for 3 days before making the decision of buying the license.
A question - in my DT 3 (trial version), i have several databases. When I upgrade to DT4, how do I integrate them into DT4? use ‘import’? Since the some DT3 database is link with my DTTG3, after upgrade to DT4, do I need to do something on DTTG3?
Asked and answered several times already in the forum. The search function (looking glass in the upper right corner) tells you more.
