For my use case, I would like to have more options for customising the toolbar in DEVONthink 4.
Specifically, I would like to be able to choose to add a button to activate:
- Go… To Group…
- Go… To Document…
As a university teacher I have groups for students I supervise. So I have a frequent need to go to a specfic group. The general search field in the toolbar requires additional text to focus on groups (kind:groups). So having an option to place “Go… To Group…” button next to the search field really speeds up my workflow.
Counter argument 1 there is a shortcut: I am aware of the ctr+cmd+g shortcut, but I prefer to also have an intuitive interface element not dependent on my memory for the shortcut).
Counter argument 2 toolbar script hacking possible: I know that it is possible to add own scripted elements to the toolbar, and have indeed added a scripted icon that actives this menu item. However, this approach is not accessible for starting DT users. And having a Group-first interaction approach seems to be a common interaction pattern for DT users(?).
