I have something really strange going on here with the DT 4 beta: When I ask ChatGPT 4.0 in DT 4 to give me the “Main Points” for a document by pushing the “Summarize via Chat” button, the response is in English for markdown text, but in German for PDFs. I’m located in the U.S. and don’t speak German.
Is this a bug or am I missing a setting somewhere?
I’m in the Netherlands (MacOS 15.3.1 set to Dutch) and a PDF was also processed in German. After a reboot I cannot find the option to summarize anymore… It used to be there with a blue asterisk.
It’s available in the context menu of document previews. And since version 4 the command Tools > Summarize Annotations is only part of the main menu (due to the length of context menus).
I was testing PDFs and text files and the summary was consistently in German for PDFs and English for texts. I left for 10 minutes and came back, and now both PDF main point summaries and plain text summaries are in English. I made no changes at all between testing sessions.
I was using the “Summarize via Chat” icon on the menu bar above the document view. The model was ChatGPT 4.0. The documents were all in English.
Now, without restarting the app or the Mac, every PDF document I try this on is showing a summary in English. Before they were showing in German. I didn’t make any settings changes between the time everything was showing in German, and now everything is showing in English. It just started working correctly.
