Overall it is. But synchronizing audit-proof databases isn’t compatible to DEVONthink To Go 3.x or DEVONthink 3.x.

Is it guaranteed that DTG will remain compatible with DT 3?

DEVONthink and DEVONthink To Go use the exact same sync engine (they share the same code) so DEVONthink To Go 4 will remain compatible to DEVONthink 3 as long as its Mac counterpart of the same generation does.
