DT4 Transition: Smart Groups, Smart Rules Did Not Transfer Over

I followed the notes on making the move: DT3 was zipped and deleted before running DT4. I am not sure if Hazel trashed something behind the scenes.

I have a volume backup that has not been updated since installing the Beta; is it possible to retrieve the Smart Groups and Smart Rules from a folder(s) there?

I am not sure if Hazel trashed something behind the scenes.

Why would Hazel be doing anything “behind the scenes”?

Hazel empties my trash periodically.

Gotcha.
This is the first report of these specific files not migrating. Development is looking into it for beta 2.

  1. Quit DEVONthink.
  2. In the Finder, hold the Option key and choose Go > Library.
  3. Go into the Application Support/DEVONthink 3 directory and copy the SmartGroups.plist and SmartRules.plist files into the DEVONthink directory in App Support.
  4. Launch DEVONthink 4.)

And if you haven’t read it yet, you should…

@snpower when you delete apps, Hazel pops up a dialog window that asks if you want to trash all the support files. Are you sure you didn’t allow Hazel to delete those, rather than tell it to keep them? That seems to me the likely culprit.

Just checked this by removing DEVONthink 4’s SmartGroups.plist and SmartRules.plist, launching it and works as expected.

Thank you Bluefrog and cgrunenberg; everything has populated correctly after following Bluefrog’s notes.
