I’m considering upgrading to DT4 and looking if new features are useful and in what way.
I looked through the book but it’s unclear whether versioning is available for all documents or only for documents that are natively editable, like Markdown? Is versioning available for PDFs (e.g. annotations and such) and Web Archives (e.g. capturing different versions of the same URL over time)?
This is already discussed in the Documents > General > Versioning section of the built-in Help and manual.
I am curious about this too!
@BLUEFROG Your excerpt explains versions well. Thank you. However does this mean that DEVONthink versions the annotations on PDFs if the annotations are made in DEVONthink?
Any changes made in DEVONthink to the content of a document are included in the versioning.
Are annotations consider part of the document?
Yes, of course. Annotations are part of the PDF specification so they are considered content.
