DTG: ‘Found documents with empty file path”

When I sync, I repeatedly get this error, which references “on this device/devonthink/console.log”. How can I fix this?

I also get a notice that a database error was fixed.

This occurred after I switched sync from Dropbox to iCloud and back to Dropbox since iCloud wasn’t working well.

Have you checked the log in that location? Files App > On My iPhone > DEVONthink > console.log will actually contain further details on the file(s) affected.

  • What verison of DEVONthink To Go are you running?
  • If you upgraded from DEVONthink To Go 2.x, did you remove version 2 after upgrading?

DTG 3.5.5 on iPhone. I don’t seem to have a problem on ipad. On IPhone console log, I read:

VERIFY: Content missing file path: Interesting Reads:/1_s2.0_S0149763416301166_main/

I removed version 2 after upgrading.

I removed the “missing file” and it seems to work ok. It pays to read the console log! Thanks everyone.

Glad to hear it

I have the same error, on all devices - since about a year or so, @BLUEFROG

I already tried to remove this file, but the error keeps coming back

You shouldn’t be trying to remove the file and it’s a non-fatal error.
@eboehnisch would have to comment on any specifics.

It seem as, how ever that came so, you imported the Console.log file? If you have this file in your database, please try to trash it.

That was the solution of the OP.

When I try to search for “Console.log” in “All databases”, I get no result.

But in the Files App, I see 3 files:

Sync.log
Console.log
DB5.plist

All have content.

I then touched the Console.log, which started DTTG and made it produce the message “Item created in Global index.”

And then I found it:

Below “Source Code” in the Global Inbox, I see several “Console” files!

I moved them to Trash and cleared the Trash.

That will probably fix the problem
Great many thanks!

Yes, these three files are part of DEVONthink To Go and they should be in Files > On My Device > DEVONthink but not create any message inside of DTTG as they are not part of the database. That’s why I asked :slightly_smiling_face:

As it seems, tryng to open those files in the File App simply imports them into DTTG!

Yes, unfortunately the Files.app associates these files with DTTG and sends them over.
