I just read a post in DTPO about being able to combine tags. Does that work for DTTG?
Somehow a bunch of my tags got duplicated (perhaps when I was on that prerelease beta to fix a syncing problem?). For example, I have one tag, development, that exists as two tags on DTTG (one article for each tag), and as one tag on DTPO (with two articles).
Now, when I tag a site using the Share Sheet, I’m presented with both tags as I start tying “dev….”
I’ve been putting off fixing the problem, but reading that post gives me hope.
Sorry, but no it doesn’t work in DEVONthink To Go. This will likely be a feature of the next major release. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Assuming the next major release isn’t imminent, is there a best practice for fixing the problem?
Assuming the next major release isn’t imminent
That is a correct assumption.
The workaround would be to process the Tags in DEVONthink on the Mac.

sadly, i might have to wait, then. on the mac, all is as it should: one tag. the duplication appears only on DTTG. oh! could i delete DTTG and then reinstall and pull down a new replica?
If the master databases are on the Mac and synced, then yes it is possible to delete DEVONthink To Go, reinstall, set up the sync location and reimport the databases.

are there still plans to add this feature at some point? not asking for guaranties or hard dates, just curious: i’m about to post on another thread 9which referenced this one), and since i’m in the process of cleaning up (finally!!), thought i’d ask.
thanks!!
If you’re referring to merging tags, that’s already possible in DEVONthink To Go but only within a database as there isn’t a global Tags group for all databases.

both, though i was mostly thinking of the global: so far, that’s the only place i’ve been finding all the duplicates.
thanks much!!
yes, i’m only through the letter A, but as far as i can tell, the duplicates are in the global inbox. i think that makes sense: the databases are newer than when the bug hit, but i didn’t realize i could merge duplicates on the phone, so i wasn’t paying super close attention.
tomorrow i’ll start on the letter B and if i find a duplicate, i’ll check DTTG also. but…i think it’s just on my mac in the global inbox.
hmmm…since they’re in the global inbox, they could be on mobile too. regardless, i’ll check
