Duplicates in iOS

A month ago I celebrated 10 years with DEVONthink (and 12 years with my wife) and I am still only scratching on the surface of what the app(s) can do. The new update of DT to GO actually made my iPad ten times more useful. The functions now are almost the same or sometimes better in the iOS version. I know I asked Jim at support about duplicates and I understand that the iOS hadles them different or actually more axact than the Mac version. I have “Stricter rec…” in settings on my Mac. I still see 116 duplicates mainly photos and some .pdf files on my iPad. Searched here in the Forum for more experience about duplicates/replicants. Anyway. THE GREATEST APP EVER! Both desktop and iOS.

Congratulations on both accounts!
What is your support ticket number?

I understand that providing identical data handling across iOS and macOS is not trivial. Strict duplicate detection likely relies on hash calculations. In the long term, it would be appreciated if strict duplicate detection produced consistent results on both macOS and iOS, meaning that zero duplicates on macOS would also appear as zero on iOS. I have also been in contact with the DTTP developers regarding this issue. As mentioned, there is no urgency from my side, as this is not an essential feature for me. I have provided sample documents that result in duplicate detection on iOS but not on macOS. I am confident that DTTP developers might sooner or later might find a way to improve this.

That is exactly my point! Nothing to do with DEVONthink. It is an Apple thing. Just wanted to share in our community of DT users that iOS and MACOS handles things different.

congratulations to your long-term marriage andDTP usage!

Thank you! Some days - not all - I seem to evaluate DT higher :-))
