DTP4 shows zero duplicates, whereas DTTG4 shows about 500 duplicates. I have enabled exact recognition in DTP4. Is it possible for DTTG4 to use exact recognition or the same criteria for duplicate detection? If so, where can I find this in the settings?
We already discussed this in your support ticket. There is no such setting in DEVONthink To Go 4 and the underlying technologies aren’t the same.
So, is this a limitation of ios26 that doesn’t enable a possibility to identify exact duplicates? Or would this be a feasible (but not yet implemented) feature request?
It’s a fundamental difference between our desktop and mobile application and infeasible in the current state of things. Could that change in time? Sure, but that’s the scoop.
I have this too and think the duplicates list on DTTG4 is more accurate than on DTP4… it doesn’t worry me but it is interesting
I assume that duplicates in DTP4 are 100% identical files (if recognition of exact duplicates is used in the settings), whereas duplicates in DTTP4 are similar files, am I right?
Only if the stricter comparison is disabled.
Thank you for your answer. In DTP I have activated “stricter comparison”. However, in DTTG I haven’t found the “stricter comparison” setting. There is only a “duplicants/recplicants in color” setting, see screenshot. As far as I have understood from @BLUEFROG’s reply, it’s not possible to have a stricter comparison under ios / DTTG and so it’s not possible to identify real duplicates.
Is there any use case for not-strict comparison? I am always looking for real duplicates in order either to delete them or to convert them to replicants.
Sure. E.g. to detect text document in various formats or basically identical images.
I assume you are referring to DTP4, only, and not to DTTG4 with this statement? As I haven’t found such an option in DTTG and as far as I have understood, it’s not possible to detect duplicates with strict-comparison in DTTG (yet). Just to be absolutely sure, that this is not a misunderstanding on my side.
There is no such option in DEVONthink To Go.
