Editing Office docs on iPad

If I want to edit an Excel document while on the iPad, I open DTTG, select the document, and then “open in” Excel. But then the document in Excel is listed as “read only” and I have to make a copy to make changes. Is there a workaround for this?

That’s controlled by Excel, not DEVONthink To Go. Our application does no file conversion of any kind. It’s just handing off the file to the other application.

Hi… so this is confusing. If I open an Excel document from Keep It, I am able to edit it. When I close the document in Excel, changes are reflected in Keep It. What is happening there that is different than in DTTG?

I’m really trying to make DTTG work for me but it’s a struggle!

Please keep an eye on our blog, especially after new year.

Thanks Eric. With some general improvements to DTTG, specifically this issue and improved note-taking, I would probably be happy with Devonthink on all of my devices and stop looking for other options. I would be thrilled - it’s been a couple of years since I left Evernote and this is the closest I’ve gotten to a replacement.
