Editing pdf in DT 4 damage the pdf's text layer

I purchased a pdf file of a book from an online store (PDF+Text (not OCR)).

When I make some edits (such as annotations or page deletions) on DT4 and save it, the text layer will be damaged. (Actual operation: If you click Command+S, the Annotations is still normal, but if you jump to another file (At this time, DT4 will be stuck for a while, (which is probably destroying the text layer of pdf. and the file size increased from 17M to 28M) and then jump back, you will see the change. )

This issue won’t occur in DTTG 4 or other pdf apps (including Preview), but as long as you save back to DT4 and edit then save, then the problem arises.

a similar problem I found

There is another question about the scanned pdf for DT4.
Import scanned pdf → select some text → Add link → Save
Someday I want to delete the link. When deleting, the DT4 will get stuck for quite a while (depending on the size of the scanned pdf file, it can take from a few minutes to tens of minutes). Once it’s done, the file has been OCRed. Is this a pre-set function?

Nothing has changed in regards to the situation in the previous post you linked.

Regarding the second question, read and follow this…

Thank you for letting me know the latest progress.

Judging from the connection article and the situation I encountered and the tests carried out, Apple’s pdfkit is a problem, but it seems that the possible compatibility problems of DT4 and macOS cannot be completely ruled out (there is no similar problem in Preview.app)

While Preview also uses PDFKit, Apple is known to make changes privately, changes we have no access to inspect or use.

That’s true.

Many thanks

You’re welcome and trust me, unresolved PDFKit issues frustrate us as much as all of you (and potentially more so)
