Export Documents in Folders/Subfolders without folder structure

Hello,

I have a very complex folder structure with many subfolders. Now I want to export all documents within the folders/subfolders from a specific time period, but without the folder structure. All my attempts with smart groups or rules copy this folder structure along with it. Can you help me?

Thank you very much

When you say „folder“, do you mean „group“? Or are you really talking about folders in Finder?

If you’re referring to groups in DT here: I’d try to define a smart group selecting the relevant documents and then select all those documents in the smart group and drag/drop them to whatever folder I want in Finder.

Welcome @Roadrunner77

What does your smart group look like?

Just expanding here a little – @chrillek is correct that you likely mean “groups”, not “folders/subfolders” in a DEVONthink context.

If your smart group is just showing the files (i.e. excluding groups or only including Documents) as a flat list, you can, as they suggest, just select them all and drag them out to a folder in the Finder.

An example Smart Group only of documents of a certain range across a database…

Some of the matching items selected in the Smart Group’s flat list in DEVONthink…

Dragged to the Finder and happily residing there…

There are lots of options for how you select the files date-wise, kind-wise, where-wise.

Duplicate names are dealt with as you see.

These are copies of the files in DEVONthink’s data store.
