You can always quickly go to the home screen by long-pressing the back-arrow and selecting “DEVONthink”. Perhaps you’re not aware?

Also, the thread you reference is from 2016 – meaning DEVONthink To Go 2. I think navigating down from the Favorites section and using the long press to return to Favorites solves a lot?
