Feature Request: Horizontal Scrolling of PDF Files

Hello and happy new year!

Two or three updates ago, the direction of scrolling through PDFs was changed from horizontally to vertically. I don’t like this change, but I really gave it a chance and tried to get comfortable with this. Unfortunately, I also use PDF Expert and there I can only swipe horizontally, or scroll through my PDFs vertically, but also continuously (not page by page).

In short, whatever I try, I have to permanently switch mindsets for scrolling through my PDFs, as I switch between both apps.

I understand that you guys from DEVONechnologies don’t want to clutter the UI with lots of settings, but I think this particular setting is just so basic, that it needs to be implemented. So here’s my proposal so that we both get what we want (and I basically stole it from Scrivener for iOS):

In the iOS Settings App, every App has an entry for its settings. Some versions of iOS ago, this was the place to go for your app settings, but in the recent years, this whole area has been mostly empty. What Scrivener does is that some advanced settings (mostly UI and behavioral customizations) can be found in the iOS Settings App, while the rest can be found in the app itself. In Scrivener, there can be found a link that points to the Settings App and with the shiny new Back to the App Link in the upper left corner of my iPad, I can go right back to Scrivener.

Why not do the same for DTTG? Have a button in the settings screen in DTTG, call it “Advanced Settings”, and put some of those nasty UI cluttering settings for us there, like a switch for horizontal scrolling. Kind of like the hidden preferences in the big DT, only slightly less hidden. Still, the App UI would be as clutter free as before.

What do you think? And thanks for consideration.

As a user, and one who also dislikes the current scrolling method in DTTG, I absolutely support this suggestion. Best of both worlds!

@Bernd: Thanks for the suggestion. While I can’t promise anything, your suggestion has been noted.
