Feature request: New document type: AI chat

I often find myself gravitating to the ChatGPT app for my AI interactions, rather than DT, and a big reason is that the app gives me a full-size window to type in and makes it very easy to pause chats and come back to them minutes, hours, days or weeks later.

Which leads to my suggest: A new DT document type for AI chats, alongside Markdown, plain text, rich text, sheets and so forth. Start a chat in the document window, as an alternative to the inspector and the chat dropdown. Want to continue the chat at a later time? Just reopen the document window and keep going, just like adding to any other document type.

You can already do this, after a fashion…

But the request is noted and development may have some ideas on it.

Thanks. It looks like you started the chat in the chat bubble, saved it to a document and then continued it in the inspector? That is not quite what I’m looking for, but I think you know that.

BTW, which browser did you decide on? I recently switched to Firefox and I like it. I was not aware of privacy concerns.

(Almost) correct, as saving a chat is part of the built-in functions. The discussion was all in the Chat assistant via the inspector, not the popover.

I typically use Safari as it’s the out of the box app we know will be installed. The inquiry I was making was actually for a support ticket. Someone running a High Sierra machine was claiming the forums didn’t work and i was looking for a currently developed browser that may still support that far back.

Strongly support this idea, or something along the same lines. Returning to a previous chat is a fairly basic requirement.

And this is already planned for an upcoming release.
