Feature Request: Sort Groups in Sidebar by Creation Order

I would like to suggest adding an option to sort Groups in the sidebar by their creation order, instead of the default alphabetical sorting. This would help users better organize and access their Groups based on when they were created, especially in databases with a large number of Groups, and especially for old guys like me that sometimes have difficulty remembering the assigned name of a Group.

Thank you for the suggestion! Currently it’s intentional that the sidebar supports only basic sorting options (by name/kind and unsorted) but a future release might support this. In the meantime maybe favorites might be an alternative, especially as favorites (and smart groups/rules) can be grouped in version 4.

Thank you for the idea of an interim work-around. I made a smart group that contains groups created in the last 90 days.

I have been thinking about trying to create an automated dashboard using Smart Rules and other DEVONthink capabilities. This is helpful.
