The instruction to sort the items list view by ascending or descending order is currently located at the very bottom of the list of sorting options (screenshot below). It is located even below the custom metadata, which for some users may be very large.
I would like to request that the ascending or descending instruction be relocated to the very top, below “Unsorted”. Otherwise I spend a lot of time scrolling every time I want to find out whether a given item view is listed in ascending or descending order, which I would like to see at a glance. It’s low stakes but would be a nice QOL improvement and hopefully easy to implement. Thanks anyone who reads this for your consideration.
Perhaps the little triangle at the right of the sorted column might indicate what you’re looking for?

The triangle is not visible when the item list is viewed only by one sorting option (such as name or date, see second screenshot below). The triangle is only visible when multiple sorting options are listed in separate columns, as in the first screenshot.
Of course, adding the asc/desc triangle to the view with only one sorting option would also be a helpful solution to my problem. For many of my projects, it is important to only view by one sorting option, and cluttering the view by adding more fields just for the sake of seeing the triangle is not optimal.
So, when you only have one column visible, you don’t get the triangle – but you can easily see how it is sorted. If it contains at least two items. Having the triangle might still be preferable, perhaps.
