Files missing on Mac, I can see on iPad

Good morning. How are you?

I’m trying to fix my database. I can see it on my iPad, but my mac when I look at individual files I see the message in the pix- File Missing:/Users…

It’s the address where the file should be, but I can’t locate it in the finder. I suspect I’m not pointing my DEVONthink at the Database, but I doubt I am using the right words to describe the problem.

I don’t want to make any drastic moves without advice.

Any assistance would be AWESOME!

Thank you!

Looks like the file “Number of Kids-1.txt” has been deleted from its Dropbox location, to which you had the file indexed into DEVONthink but you haven’t updated that index yet. And, my hunch, as the indexed location has not yet been updated, the iPad doesn’t yet know about that until indexed updated on the Mac and a full sync completed.

If that file deleted and you need that file “Number of Kids-1.txt”, check you system backup or if Dropbox has deleted files stored or something.

Thank you! I understand now.

I’ve found all those files in Dropbox. Not just the “kids” file but all the files in that Database. I’m almost certain that this happened when Dropbox was force to change where it stored files on a Mac. I believe this was my only “indexed” database.

If that is the case, I’d like to save all the groupings i’ve made in the database. Is it possible to “re-index” the files in their new location?

And if not could I just import the database to my Mac from my iPad and NOT index them. Meaning just use the files without storing them in Dropbox?

Either would be fine. But I believe not using Dropbox might be more stable. My reason for indexing the files died off a long time ago.
