Using DT Pro 4 and trying to set up a folder using a script to make DT import any file I put in there. I followed instructions in Help to add a script to the folder, but the scripts shown are red and don’t appear to do anything. I looked in the scripts folder in Finder (~/Library/Scripts/Folder Action Scripts) and found no scripts. I tried DT>Install Add-ons and the scripts appear in my DT Inbox, not in the Folder Action Scripts folder. In fact, they keep appearing in the Inbox every time I launch the app.
Did you actually attach a folder action to this folder?
Yes, if by that you mean, go through the Folder Action Setup, select Folder Action Scripts, click + and select a script to apply.
This should be applied only to the desired import folder, not to the folder mentioned above. A screenshot of your folder action setup would be useful, thanks.
OK, I did that. No activity - how long should it take?
Yesterday was setting up a Folder action and had the same issue so I deleted all the red scripts. This happened because I renamed the folder so that was the issue. not sure if that’s your issue.
Try deleting all the red scripts and make sure you don’t edit anything on the folder before assigning an action to a folder
And what do you see when you select that folder in the Folder Actions Setup?
You should not have all those scripts enabled, either way.
Ok, I started over on my Mac Mini. It has the scripts in the correct folder, unlike the folder on my Macbook. I attached a script to my folder and it worked perfectly. So problem solved, but I don’t understand why the Macbook setup is different and doesn’t work. Both had DT installed at the same time and they sync well. FYI, I use Bonjour from the Mini, if that makes any difference.
Nope, no syncing would make a difference as those aren’t syncable resources.
In DEVONthink on the MacBook, select DEVONthink > Install Add-Ons, make sure Additional Scripts is checked, and click Install, if enabled.
Thank you! I deleted all the script files that showed up in the Inbox on Macbook DT, then quit & relaunched. Then installed Add-ons as suggested. Made a new folder on Macbook and attached script. It works! No idea what caused all the voodoo before, but I am grateful for the help.
You’re very welcome!
