Format bar not showing

Hi, I have a problem with the format bar not showing when editing RTF documents. It’s just greyed out and won’t show. What to do?

The command should be available when an RTF(D) document is shown in the preview pane of the frontmost window. A screenshot of the window would be useful.

Thanks for your answer. It is a RTF Doc. See screenshot.

The format bar can’t be toggled currently while in fullscreen window mode (to work around certain AppKit glitches).
